One 3.75″/9.3cm silver-plated hair fork, decorated with my own design of lightweight aluminum chainmaille flowers. A friend told me they remind her of kanzashi and
sakura blossoms; another friend just told me they’re awesome. Either way, I like them a lot!
The hair fork is silver plate over brass, which makes it a solid alternative for you people who break the normal wooden sticks. The flower dangles are about 4.5″/11cm long; the flowers themselves are about 1.5″/3.5cm across. They will twist some while dangling, as pictured–all the better to see them from different angles! If you don’t want them to twist, I suggest pinning them into place with a bobby pin or another hair stick through a bottom ring.
These guys will stand up to a good bit of abuse. I made mine in 2009 and have accidentally put it through the washer and dryer twice now; it’s come out with only a few scuffs. (I wouldn’t recommend doing that, though–they can do some damage to your clothes!) As the flowers are made of aluminum, they will not rust or tarnish. If they get dirty, they’ll clean up in the sink with some dish soap.
