Stoneflowers–double-sided wooden hair sticks

These double-sided hair sticks are a design that happened because I wanted a stone look with an antique-y, historical vibe–but without the fragility of a fully stone hairpin.

The black wooden sticks measure about 7″ long; the part that can go in your hair is about 6″.
They’re made with marbled acrylic flowers, semi-precious gemstones, glass beads, and silver-tone alloy and brass accents.
The widest part of each flower is just under 1″ across, and the dangles are about 4.5″ from top to bottom.
One stick weighs about 22g, or around the weight of four nickels.
The decorations on the stick itself are double-sided, so you can dress it to whichever side makes you happiest . . . or get two, and wear ’em on either side. The dangle is single-sided, to help keep it from catching in your hair.

“How many sticks do I need?”
In my experience, one will hold but two will hold better–but it’s really up to your personal preference.
