One silver-plated hair fork, decorated with a double-sided dangle made of antiqued silver lotus flower beads and sparkly glass beads.
The full fork, including the top flower, is 6″/15cm long, and the part that goes in your hair is 5″/13cm. Altogether one fork weighs 15grams, or as much as three nickels. The dangles are 1″/3cm and 1.5″/4cm and will hang down from the fork.
The hair fork is silver plate over copper. It’s not rigid, but flexes a little. Don’t be alarmed by this–as long as you don’t actively try to bend it in half or try to bend the flower part around a lot, it’ll be fine. They’re also thinner than the prongs on the other, shorter forks, so they go through hair much easier.
So how do you wear it?
I usually make a twisty bun out of my hair, then put the fork through that. Twisting your hair up with the fork itself works, but forces the prongs together. (This isn’t an effective way to use the piece so I don’t recommend doing it.)
